Thank you for your interest in volunteering with HopeLine!
At this time, applications for our October 2025 training class are on pause. You are welcome to apply to be added to the waitlist for that session or to be considered for our next training class in early 2026.

Crisis Line Training

Crisis Line volunteers go through 34 hours of training to learn our Active Listening philosophy, HopeLine policies & procedures, lethality assessment protocols, and specific skills for crisis de-escalation. Volunteers then go through 4 two-hour internships where they are paired with a mentor to begin answering crisis calls.

Volunteers on the lines can expect to help people experiencing:

  • mental health emergencies

  • suicide

  • domestic violence

  • loneliness

  • grief

  • child abuse

  • trauma

  • addiction & recovery

Reassurance Calls

Reassurance volunteers participate in a portion of our crisis line training, where they learn our Active Listening philosophy, lethality assessment, and HopeLine policies and procedures. This tailored training prepares volunteers to make meaningful outbound calls as part of our Reassurance program. Exact training dates are still to be determined.

Reassurance program participants are typically elderly or homebound individuals with little to no daily support. These friendly check-in calls aim to reduce loneliness and isolation within our community.
