Economic Downturn Raising Suicide Risks

Raleigh, NC, May 2009 - The economic downturn has had all kinds of affects on families: the loss of jobs, the loss of homes, and the loss of marriages. It can also be behind the loss of life, as the number of people committing suicide, or thinking about it, is on the rise. (Full Story) (Video)


HopeLine Announces 2009 Board Members

Raleigh, NC, July, 2009 –HopeLine, Inc, the Triangle's 24-hour crisis and suicide prevention hotline, has announced the Board of Directors for the 2009-10 year. The officers are President, John Craichy, Management Consultant; Secretary, Scott Bower, Attorney, Private Practice; Treasurer, Connie Stock, Retired IBM programmer.

The newly elected board members are as follow: Willa Casstevens, NCSU Professor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Michael Outlaw, Business Owner, Beth Donner, President of Diversified Planning, Ltd.; Nicolle Karim, Social Worker, Franklin County Department of Social Services.  

Gordon Leden, Dentist will continue to serve on the board.


HopeLine Welcomes New Executive Director

Raleigh, NC, September, 2008 - HopeLine, Inc, the Triangle's 24-hour crisis and suicide prevention hotline, has announced the arrival of new Executive Director, Courtney Atwood. Erin Grupp, HopeLine Clinical director says, “We are excited about the energy that Courtney will bring to HopeLine. Her expertise in Marketing and Not for Profit Management will serve HopeLine well.”

Courtney worked in Corporate Marketing before transitioning into a career in the non-profit field. She worked as Development Director for Samaritan Ministries, a homeless shelter and soup kitchen in Winston-Salem , NC before relocating to the Raleigh area to serve as HopeLine’s Executive Director. “HopeLine is such an important service to the community and I am thrilled to be a part of it,” said Atwood. Atwood graduated from Salem College with a bachelors of arts Communication and a minor in Not for Profit Management and is dedicated to the Non-profit field.
